Happy Earth Day!

My sister-in-law sent out an e-mail to all of her friends and family in honor of Earth Day. She and her little 4-year-old daughter have organized a clean-up effort for the main street and waterfront area in the town in which they live. The local paper is even coming out to do a story on them! I thought I would share a little of Jen's e-mail with you, which I think is a great reminder to think about the little ways that we can make a difference -- and a lot of these are things that we can easily teach our children!

'Please remember "We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children." Earth Day IS everyday, folks! Turn off the lights when you leave a room, don't let your water run when you are brushing your teeth, eat & shop locally, and remember, "if it is less than a mile, walk/bike in style!" There are so many little, simple things we can do to help our Earth. The time to start is NOW!'

Thanks for the reminder, Jen!

I think this is so neat! I can't wait to see what the paper says about her!!!

Me, too! Drew spoke with her this morning, and unfortunately, the crew she had organized did not show up, but the reporter from the local paper did and is apparently going to do an article about them being a "green family"! And Jen's got photos on Facebook of some of the things they did -- she and Erin did a LOT for just the 2 of them, and a local woman helped out too.
